Taranow Plastic Surgery now offers the latest dermal filler to gain FDA approval, JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC. It’s the first injectable filler approved specifically to treat volume loss in the cheeks, making it an important addition to the practice’s range of cosmetic fillers.

Dr. Douglas Taranow says, “Our patients have come to count on us over the years to provide them with the most innovative and effective treatments out there. This new JUVÉDERM option is a part of that.”

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC, is a new formulation of the hyaluronic acid-based gel that has been shown in clinical trials to correct age-related volume loss in the cheeks. Hyaluronic acid is a protein that occurs naturally in the body and helps keep skin hydrated and firm. According to an Allergan news release, the results can last up to 2 years.

“The cheeks have been difficult to treat in the past,” Dr. Taranow says, “but JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC can be injected deeper for better correction in the cheeks. Now, in addition to treating the lips and the area around the eyes with multiple products, we can plump up the cheeks in quick, convenient sessions, since receiving JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC it has been flying off the shelf and have already used over 20 syringes of it in the first week!”

The injections of the new product, like its predecessors, will take only a few minutes, and they require little to no downtime. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC arrived on the market at a time when non-surgical facial enhancement options are enjoying a surge in popularity compared with more expensive and invasive alternatives such as facelift surgery.

“Approval of JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC allows us to give our patients more options, which is always a good thing.”
