Liposuction and the Brazilian Butt Lift by New York City Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Liposuction is the most common cosmetic procedure performed in the United States.  In the right Board Certified Plastic Surgeon’s hands, not only can your waistline be made significantly thinner, your buttocks may also be ‘sculpted’ to appear larger and shapelier.  The “sweetheart” curve at the apex of your buttocks may be recreated with liposuction alone.  The upper portion of your buttocks, which is often lost with even the slightest weight gain, may be reshaped and separated from lower back and hip fat.  The inner and outer thighs as well as the  infragluteal areas ( fat below your buttocks crease) may also be sculpted to enhance the shape of your thigh and buttocks.  While this fat is usually discarded, there is a growing trend to use your own fat to re-inject into the buttocks to enhance both the size and shape.  This relatively new procedure called the ‘Brazilian Butt Lift’ has been gaining popularity over the past several years.

Your own fat has been used to augment the face, lips, ankles as well as a treatment for cellulite.  Large amounts of fat are processed from liposuctioned areas and  re-injected into the deficient areas of your buttocks.  Tiny needle holes are all that is required to inject the fat.  There is little added pain from the buttock augmentation over the normal discomfort following a liposuction.  Patients generally return to work in a week and wear a custom garment for two weeks.  A recent blog posted by Dr. Rose of New York City also gives other information regarding liposuction.
