As time passes and the natural aging process takes its course, men and women alike begin to see fine lines, wrinkles, and creases on their facial skin. Those who do not wish to undergo an invasive surgical procedure often inquire about non-surgical treatments, such as the dermal filler, Restylane ®. Restylane ® is made of hyaluronic acid, which is already present in the body. This means that the body will naturally absorb the substance upon injection.
During a consultation with Dr. Taranow, the patient's facial anatomy and desired outcome are taken into consideration when creating a treatment plan. Restylane can be injected into the nasolabial folds and forehead to add volume and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and creases. This dermal filler may also be injected into the lips for augmentation.
Restylane can provide patients with smoother skin and natural-looking results that may last six months or longer. To maintain a smoother complexion, patients may opt to undergo repeat treatments. Some patients may find that the combination of other non-surgical treatments with Restylane may provide more dramatic results.
Post-treatment, the most common side effects of Restylane include swelling, which typically goes down within two to three days. Rare, but more serious complications include redness, headache, nausea, flu-like symptoms, and pain; if present, these should subside within a few days. Further information regarding the recovery period can be obtained during your visit with Dr. Taranow.
