What is tummy tuck surgery?
A tummy tuck or “Abdominoplasty” is a surgical procedure that is intended to rid the stomach of excess, hanging skin and fat. When the abdominal muscles have been overly stretched out, they are often unable to retract to their former state. Oftentimes, regular diet and exercise are not sufficient and surgical procedures may be necessary.
During tummy tuck surgery, a general anesthetic will be administered prior to Dr. Taranow making an incision on the lower abdomen, which will span from hipbone to hipbone. The skin will be separated from the abdominal wall in order to stitch the muscles together. In addition, the excess tissue will be pulled down, tightened, and removed.
